Learning in Recovery

Men and women who have been in recovery more than a few years often reach a point where they say they are grateful for their addiction. How could this be possible? Because they see how, in order to recover, they needed to spend time learning about themselves, and how they want to live. The time and effort taken to achieve and sustain sober living has required them to learn more, and live differently. Which is something to be thankful for.

So, if a large part of recovery is learning about ourselves, what kind of things can we learn from others? From those who have gone before? From those who have tried, perhaps many times, and, finally, succeeded?

There are a lot of individuals who have gone through recovery ahead of us, and learning from their experiences is often a cornerstone in maintaining a healthy recovery.
